About Spells, Amulets and Potions

Magical HerbsSpells are simply rituals used to perform magic. As discussed in Using Magic, the particular ritual is only part of what makes magic work. It can, however, be a very important part. Rituals help to focus your mind on your goals. Certain items can help to focus the mind in particular directions. By combining particular rituals with particular objects, you can virtually force your mind to focus in the direction you desire.

Magic can be used for almost any purpose. There are some who classify magic into colors based on the intent of the magic. While there is some correspondence for Color Magic, it is rather simplistic to, for example, label all love magic as "Red". There are many magical rituals available for general purposes, both in print and online. Some of the more common types of spells available online include those for:

Grimoire

While these are often a good starting point, it is much better to customize these rituals to your specific purpose. The more specific the goal, the more likely it is to succeed. Many of the rituals I use include focusing on your specific goal. For those who are interested, I have included instructions for several spells on the Wolf and Raven Grimoire page. I will be including more spells as time permits.

Magical Objects

You can also imbue objects with magical power. These can be in the form of potions, amulets, or almost any other object. It tends to work best when the objects in question carry a magical correspondence to the intent of the spell.

Ritual ToolsRitual Tools are often consecrated and used only for magic and ritual. These tools carry the personal magical energy of the person who used them. Some Covens also have a set of coven tools that are empowered by all members of the Coven.

Potions act as liquid carriers for magical power. Sometimes you will drink them, but more often they are applied to the skin. Purifying Sage Spray is one example of this type of potion.

Gemstone AmuletAmulets are small, portable objects that are imbued with magical energies. They can be worn, carried, or left in a particular location where their power will be of the most use. The various businesses where my wife and I worked often had a money drawing amulet in each of the cash registers. Amulets can be made from almost anything.

Herb Infused Money CandleCandles are an example of something that can either be used in magic rituals or made into a type of amulet. Burning candles during magic rituals is a common practice. This can be done to set the mood, to represent particular aspects of the magic, or as something for the caster to focus on while visualizing. Another practice is to create candles using herbs, oils and dyes in the wax to create specific magical effects.

Do it Yourself or Hire A Pro?

While there are many people who will perform magic for you, it is difficult to find those who are completely honest. If you do plan on hiring someone, be sure that they take the time to understand your goals. Often it is best for you to perform your own magic, since you have the best idea what you want. Magic does not have to be a complex or lengthy procedure to be effective, nor do they have to cost a lot. The most important thing is that you follow through on the results of the magic.

Again, for those who are interested, I have included instructions for several spells on the Wolf and Raven Grimoire page.
