Revenge Spells

Many first come to magic looking for Revenge Spells. What they find is many people telling them that Pagans don't use magic for revenge. This is true, to a certain extent. What few take the time to explain are magical alternatives to seeking vengeance. You can use magic to seek revenge, and sometimes, for some people, nothing else will do.

Most Pagans will flat-out refuse to use magic for vengeance. Some even go so far as to say that magic cannot be used that way. This is not true. Magic can, has and will be used in the pursuit of vengeance. The problem with doing so (and the reason that most Pagans won't do it) is that there are Karmic repercussions. Sending negativity into the world will result in negativity coming back to you. If you are willing to suffer the results of this type of negative Karma, I can't stop you from using a Revenge spell. I would, however, ask you to consider the following alternatives first.

Often, people confuse vengeance with justice. While most Pagans won't cast vengeance spells, few object to spells seeking justice. In many cases these spells are a simple matter of reflecting negativity or accelerating Karma. In doing so, the Karma that these people deserve is more rapidly brought home to them.

Reflecting negativity is also used in protection spells. This is another alternative to revenge. By protecting yourself from the other person's negativity, you eliminate their power over you. For many bullies or the power hungry, this is the worst type of punishment. Remember that the best revenge is living well.

Of course, sometimes it is not possible to live well while in a personal or professional relationship with a negative person. In these cases, it may be necessary to cast a spell to remove this person from your life. This can be done by either freezing the person out or forcing them away. In cases where you still feel an attachment to the person, it may also be necessary to use magic to help you let go of them.

One other major time that vengeance spells are sought is during court cases. Whether criminal or civil, people who feel they have unjustly been brought to court often look for revenge. This is truly the most appropriate time to seek justice rather than vengeance.

Why I am so against Revenge Spells? Because vengeance is self-perpetuating. Seeking revenge is lowering yourself to the level of those you seek revenge against. Rather than waste your energy this way, why not focus on improving your life and let them stew in their own juices? Examine why you want vengeance, then ask yourself how it will improve your life. Then consider other ways to improve that aspect your life.

If they truly have damaged you so badly that only their pain will make it right, that is the time to seek justice and let the universe take care of the details.
